Geologie Men's Skin Care - Read before you try!
Just beore Christmas I was browsing through my Facebook feed and I came accross a free trial for some men's skin care product. I'm game for free product even if I have to pay for the shipping, and so I ordered the free product from Geologie. I didn't try it but ended up giving as a stocking stuffer to my son. About a month later I was charged $160 on my PayPal. It said I had entered into a subscription. Needless to say I was upset to see this. I have fallen for these things before and feel that I am pretty careful now not to get myself locked into a subscription.
I immediately contacted the company, and they were quick in getting back to me. I also did some research myself. The company claims that they are very transparent about their trials leading to a subscription. However, what I find as not being very customer orientated is the fact that once you sign up there is no welcome email, no thank you for tring the free product and after 30 days you will receive you first subscription shipment on such and such date. There was actually no communication at all until I was charged $160!
Milos, who is, as I found out, one of six employees (another website says 10 now) and designated the lead of the E Commerce Customer Success Team got back to me rather quickly and told me that I could not get a refund because the product had already been shipped. At that point he provided a tracking link to DHS. When I clicked on the link it merely stated that the package has been shipped on the 6th and was in transit. It was now the 11th.
After going back and forth he offered me a 40% discount and then after "speaking to his supervisor" he offered a 50% discount. Very nice of them...but no thanks. I want a full refund because I didn't agree to a subscription. I have told Milos that I will be refusing to receive the package when it comes and expect a full refund.
Anyone who is thinking about trying this product needs to be cautious. If this the way they get their "customers," and if this is the way they treat them. then I think it is fair to suspect the product as being as superior as they tout it to be. Customer service is everything. It seems to me that these guys are grasping at straws and trying to make money anyway they can. It makes me think that they will hang on to this business until it doesn't profit them anymore and then move on to the next one.
Also, if you do more research online you will begin to see some other shady things. Many of the websites that promote Geologie do not allow for reviews. One website, theadultman.com, had a place for comments. So I tried to comment. It made me sign up. So I signed up, and then it told me I was not allowed to make a comment. Crazy!
Also, the positive reviews on some websites just seem to be the same person writing them. "The customer service was great!" Really? That is not what the BBB complaints say. "The product is taylored to your skin type!" Really? Everyone gets the same 5 products. So on and so on.
To be fair, I do not know any of these people, and I have had contact with only Milos, but much of this suggests a scam. I certainly hope that this is not what they are trying to do and that they just don't know how to do business. There are other ways to get customers and keep them.
There are other skin products out there that don't cost an arm and a leg and are just as good or probably better. Until Geologie makes changes to how they get their customers and treat them well, I recommend you completely stay away from them. Let's help them get their business act together.
